Good to know

JPG is lossy: compression blocks and color banding become visible artifacts in the trace, so a clean, high-contrast source matters more here than with PNG.
JPG has no transparency, so a background will be traced unless it is a flat color you can threshold out.

Why does my JPG trace look noisy?

JPEG compression adds subtle blocks and halos around edges. Increasing the threshold and minimum-area settings smooths these out; a higher-quality source JPG helps most.
