How it works

Drop the PDF you want to change. It opens right on the page, with the Edit text tool ready.
To change words that are already in the PDF, click the outlined line, type the new text and click outside the box. The new words take the old line's place, size and color.
To add to the page, pick Add text, Pen, Highlight, Box, Circle, Arrow, White-out or Image. Switch Line style to Hand-drawn for a sketch look like Excalidraw.
Open the Pages panel to rotate, reorder, delete or add blank pages, then press Download edited PDF.

What people use it for

Fixing a typo, a date or a price in a PDF when you no longer have the Word file.
Marking up a contract, thesis or drawing with highlights, arrows and comments before sending it back.
Covering an old address with white-out and writing the new one, or adding a logo or stamp image.
Removing blank or wrong pages and putting a scanned document in the right order.
Teaching from a PDF: present it full screen, point with the laser, and lay pages out on the board to explain around them.

Good to know

Edit text works line by line on real PDF text. Scanned pages are pictures with no text to click: run PDF OCR first, then edit.
Changed words use the closest standard font (Helvetica, Times or Courier). A rare brand font will look slightly different.
The old words are covered with the paper color, not erased from the file, so they can still be copied out. To remove sensitive text for good, use Redact PDF.
Password-protected PDFs can be read here, but must be unlocked before editing. Vertical or rotated text cannot be changed in place.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change text in a PDF for free?

Open the PDF here, keep the Edit text tool selected, click the line you want to change and type. When you download, the new words sit exactly where the old ones were, as real selectable text. There is no account, watermark or page limit.

Can I draw and write on a PDF?

Yes. Use Pen for freehand, Highlight for text marking, Box, Circle, Line and Arrow for shapes and Add text for typed notes. Everything is saved into the PDF as vector content, so it stays sharp at any zoom.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened, edited and saved by your own browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib. Nothing is sent anywhere, which also means it works with confidential documents.

Will the edited PDF keep its original quality?

Yes. The original pages are kept as they are, including their text, vectors, links and form fields. Your edits are added on top, and only the pages you rotate, move or delete change.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Tap a line to edit it, and draw with your finger once a drawing tool is selected. With the Read or Edit text tool active, one finger scrolls the document as usual.

Can I teach or study with it?

Yes. Present switches to full screen with arrow-key page turns, the Laser points without leaving marks, and the Board tab lets you place any pages on an endless canvas and draw, write and explain around them. Download board saves it all as one PDF, with the pages still sharp and searchable.
